# Mark a contact opted out

`POST /api/contacts/{phone}/opt-out`  (operationId: `optOutContact`, group: Contacts)

Marks the contact as opted out of broadcasts and records a consent event. Broadcasts skip opted-out numbers.

Part of the core API, included in the Growth and Scale plans. Any one of these scopes is enough: `contacts`.

**Parameters**

| `phone` | path | string | yes | Contact phone number with the country code, digits only. A leading + is accepted. A 10-digit number with no country code is treated as Indian (91 is added). |

**Response 200**: Recorded.
